The sauce was the only redeeming part of the dinner. It may have passed for ok, but it was obvious that the sausage had an off flavor, like it had been prepared many days ago, or possibly frozen and reheated a few times. A couple of pieces of precooked grilled chicken, some room temperature pre-cooked sliced sausage, a few pre-sauteed mushrooms, and all put onto a pan and heated for less than one minute in a generic red sauce then poured over very underdone fettucini noodles. But in the interest of expediency, the restaurant cooked each ingredient separately, probably hours before dinner, then put the dish together as if they were assembling a pizza. Chicken cacciatore is usually cooked like a stew and served over pasta. Who puts salt on bread like it was french fries? Unfortunately the chicken was not good at all. The bread was good, but unhealthily salted. The server was gracious enough to let us know it was ok to split the order between two plates, so we ordered it. But my dinner companion loves sausage, and we both love chicken cacciatote. Second bad feeling! Chicken Cacciatore classically contains chicken, not sausage. The server explained that it contained sausage. We started getting the idea that maybe it was a bad choice of restaurants! We were interested in the fall special, ckicken cacciatore. It was raining outside, and we were paraded past three assorted 5 gallon buckets strategically placed to catch the rainwater coming inside from the leaking roof. I am disabled, and have trouble walking, but the server insisted on seating us at the rear of the restaurant. We then went to get a table at the more comfortable restaurant area. It was not busy yet, and the bartender kept coming to the table to try to get us to order our meal in the bar area, but he never gave us our check for our glass of beer. We arrived during happy hour and enjoyed a beer in the bar area. Macaroni Grill was within walking distance and it looked like a nice restaurant for dinner. We were in town for a party and are staying at a local hotel.
